Private club on the Colorado River, west Austin

Austin Country Club sits along the Colorado River with the Pennybacker Bridge in view, about 10 miles west of downtown. I've filmed two weddings here, and both receptions were some of the most fun I've seen.

The venue

A private club founded in 1899, one of the oldest existing clubs in Texas, on more than 180 acres of Hill Country and canyon views in Davenport Ranch. It's also the longtime home of the famous golf teacher Harvey Penick.

A wedding at Austin Country Club

Austin Country Club is one of the oldest clubs in Texas, founded in 1899. It sits along the banks of the Colorado River with Austin's Pennybacker Bridge as its backdrop, about 10 miles west of downtown, on more than 180 acres in Davenport Ranch.

It's a private, family oriented club with a lot of tradition. The receptions I've filmed there were elegant, warm, and full of people having a great time.

The airplane spin

The film at the top of this page started with a ceremony at Smith Family Chapel and then moved to Austin Country Club for the reception. Now this is how you kick off a dance party. I had never seen an airplane spin at a wedding before that night.

The toasts were just as good. You can see it in the stills on this page, with the room laughing so hard during the speeches.

Tyler and Sheridan

When you bring together two amazing families and create the ultimate power couple, you get a wedding that people will be talking about for years. That was Tyler and Sheridan.

Their planner, Verve Events, pulled off one of the most amazing weddings I've ever filmed, with a ballroom full of chandeliers and a dance floor that shined. It was absolutely spectacular.

Filming at Austin Country Club

Club weddings have their own rhythm, with dinner service, toasts, and dancing on a set timeline. Having filmed two receptions here, I know how those evenings flow, and I can stay out of the way while still catching every laugh.
