The wedding capital of Texas, about 30 minutes west of Austin
Dripping Springs wedding videographer
Dripping Springs is where a lot of my Austin wedding weekends actually happen. I've filmed at Camp Lucy, Sacred Oaks, Canyonwood Ridge, Ma Maison, and Vista West Ranch, on cinema cameras and on real Super 8 film.
Dripping Springs venues I've filmed
Camp Lucy and Sacred Oaks, Canyonwood Ridge, Ma Maison, and Vista West Ranch. Each one has a published wedding film you can watch before you write.
What changes out here
Open sky, live oaks, limestone, and golden hour that arrives fast and leaves faster. Ceremony timing, sunset portraits, and where the wind comes from all shape how I plan a Dripping Springs day.
Filming weddings in Dripping Springs
Dripping Springs calls itself the wedding capital of Texas for a reason: rolling Hill Country, vineyards, chapels, and ranches within a few miles of each other. For a wedding videographer, that means big light and big space, and it means planning around heat, wind, and a sunset that drops behind the hills earlier than you'd think.
I'm based in Hutto, filming Austin wedding weekends, and Dripping Springs is one of the places I'm out most often. I know which ceremony sites get harsh afternoon sun, where the reception noise bounces, and how long it takes guests to get from the chapel to the cocktail hour.
Camp Lucy and Sacred Oaks
Sarah and Don's Camp Lucy wedding, filmed partly on Super 8, was featured in Vogue. Vineyard rows and string lights already look like film when the sun goes down, which is why Camp Lucy is one of my favorite places to bring the Super 8 cameras. Wenjane and Susie's wedding under the live oaks at Sacred Oaks is another Camp Lucy film on the blog.
Canyonwood Ridge, Ma Maison, and Vista West Ranch
Jason and Rachel's Canyonwood Ridge film mixes Super 8 and digital on the ridge and in the hall. Ma Maison is a European style estate on 23 acres where I've filmed weddings and showcases since 2015, including Kyra and Reno. Vista West Ranch is a rustic barn venue where I've filmed two weddings more than ten years apart.
Super 8 in the Hill Country
Real film loves Dripping Springs light. Grain and warmth already belong in oak shade and late sun, so Super 8 and 16mm sit naturally beside the cinema camera. It's real film on vintage cameras, not a filter added later.
