Austin Hill Country, about 10 miles from downtown
Pecan Springs Ranch wedding videographer
Pecan Springs Ranch is one of the venues I come back to most. My YouTube channel has more than ten films from this ranch, and it seems to get prettier every time I drive out there.
The venue
A family owned, 17 acre garden property tucked into the countryside about 10 miles from downtown Austin. The family bought the land in 2012 and hosted their first wedding in 2013, with indoor and outdoor spaces and room for about 300 guests inside.
Films I've made here
Taryn and Michael, Colin and Kimberly, Mary and Jack, Morgan and Scott, Casey and Kristie, a snowy owl ring bearer, a fantasy wedding with beer unicorns and sloths, a Super 8 and 16mm film, and three venue showcases.
Why I keep coming back to Pecan Springs Ranch
I wrote years ago that Pecan Springs Ranch seems to get prettier every time I go out there, and it still holds true. It feels like you've left the city behind, but it's only about 10 miles from downtown Austin, so guests flying in don't have to plan a road trip to get to your wedding.
The ranch is a 17 acre garden property, family owned, and it has been hosting weddings since 2013. There's an indoor reception space and plenty of room outside, which matters in Central Texas. When the weather turns, there's somewhere to go, and when it's perfect, you get to be outside under the trees.
Taryn and Michael
The film at the top of this page is Taryn and Michael. Taryn's dad talking about how proud he is of her is one of the most heartwarming things I've ever recorded. Watching their families come together and grow into a bigger one was something special to be part of.
Pecan Springs Ranch was the perfect backdrop for the rest of their night, an outdoor dinner and dancing under the open sky. If you love a good parent speech, press play and keep the tissues close.
The worst weather and the best wedding
Colin and Kimberly's day is the one people ask me about. Colin and his groomsmen had buried their favorite bottle of bourbon to keep the rain away, and digging it back up did not go the way they hoped. It was the worst wedding weather I have ever filmed in, and I have filmed in some bad ones.
It was also one of the most amazing weddings I've seen. All the vendors pitched in, the family kept laughing, and the whole wedding party was nothing but smiles all night. No one who was there is going to forget it. The full story is in the storm wedding post linked below.
More Pecan Springs Ranch weddings
Mary and Jack got married on a day when the wind was out in force and love was in the air anyway. Casey and Kristie filled their wedding with beautiful artistic details and personal touches. One couple had a snowy owl as their ring bearer. Another went full fantasy, with tiny mouse doors, beer unicorns, sloths, and shoeys.
I filmed Morgan and Scott's wedding here in Ultra HD 4K back in 2016, and Pecan Springs Ranch once again proved itself the right place for a father and daughter story the year after that. More recently I shot a wedding here on real Super 8 and 16mm film.
Filming your day at Pecan Springs Ranch
I'm based in Hutto, so this ranch is close to home for me. Because I've filmed here in sunshine, in wind, and through a storm, I know the grounds well and I know where we can move if the Texas weather does what it does.
If Pecan Springs Ranch is on your list, send me your date through the contact page and tell me a little about the two of you. You can see more of my local work on my Austin wedding videographer page.
