Alex and Santi's Super 8 Wedding at Chateau Noland in SLO

Chateau Noland looks like a rumor about France that California decided to keep. Alex and Santi married on the lawn of that stone estate in San Luis Obispo: turrets, cypress, golden hills, a white floral arch, and a black-and-white checkered dance floor waiting for dusk. The film is Super 8 from start to finish. Grain. Rounded light. A 7:14 keepsake that treats the chateau as a character and the couple as the reason you look at it.

The film finds water first.

Creek, boulders, and a dark wooden footbridge on the Chateau Noland grounds.

A shallow creek, grey river rock, a multi-trunk tree, a dark footbridge, golden-hour light on the bank. SLO weddings are not only the facade. They are also this quiet geology under the oaks.

Then the house. Light stone, conical turret roofs, an arched wooden door, Italian cypress, lime teardrop shrubs, pink bougainvillea, bistro lights already strung. Two blocks of black chairs, a petal aisle, a white floral arch in front of a rock feature. If you are considering Chateau Noland, this is the honest establishing image.

From the air the estate sits in dry California hills like it was always supposed to. A vintage black carriage on the drive. Cone cypress in a line. Super 8 from a drone still reads as a place, not a toy.

A wrought-iron arch over a dry stream, a birdcage gazebo, live oaks, a gold hill. Super 8 (and a prism) puts a silhouette in the glass. The grounds are a garden first. The chateau is the exclamation point.

Before the aisle, the hill. Dry grass, live oaks. He waits in the shade. She walks up in white. Super 8 keeps the distance on purpose.

Dusk turns the lawn into a room. White linens, black cross-backs, runners of white roses and baby's breath, hurricanes, a black-and-white checkered floor, strings of warm bulbs, windows glowing in the turrets. Chateau Noland does not give up the architecture at night. It turns the lights on.

Grain, a wave, a veil, white roses, a low wall of small flowers, dark trees. Super 8 in black and white is memory on purpose. They look like they already know the day worked.

Chateau Noland is a premier San Luis Obispo destination for couples who want French stone, oak hills, and a Super 8 film that can hold both. The estate does half of the cinematography. The other half is analog: waiting for the train to read from the air, waiting for the bistro lights, waiting for grain to make a walk feel like an old photograph from this year.
